Two centuries of industry
Staropramen, ČKD, and Ringhoffer’s factories – Smíchov has been shaped since the mid-18th century by factories, engineering works, warehouses, and railway infrastructure. One of its most iconic landmarks is the railway viaduct over the Vltava River, which has stood largely unchanged since 1901 and serves as a witness to Prague’s development.
Viadukt is named after this railway bridge not only because of its proximity, but also because it symbolises the neighbourhood’s industrial heritage. This viaduct played a key role in shaping Smíchov’s evolving character in the 19th century – and it still does today.

Once an industrial district, Smíchov is now transforming into a modern urban neighbourhood. Rather than erasing its past, it embraces its heritage. Dilapidated warehouses and neglected courtyards are gradually being converted into spaces for distinctive urban living, cultural venues, parks, shops, and amenities.

Viadukt is located in the heart of one of Prague’s best-equipped neighbourhoods. When you do need to travel further afield, Anděl, Smíchov railway station, and excellent access to the city’s ring road are all within easy reach.
